Infrared Sauna

Infrared saunas are quickly gaining popularity. They have amazing health benefits including:

  • Detoxification: Remove toxins like heavy metals from your body. The infrared sauna is particularly beneficial to those on a cleanse or other detoxification protocol.

  • Pain relief: The infrared sauna can help those with chronic muscle pain, those recovering from muscular-skeletal injuries such as sports injuries, easing recovery from intensive exercise or training, or for anyone getting a massage on the same day.

Relaxing way to detox
  • Weight loss: Excellent if you are in the process of losing weight. In a 60-minutes session, the infrared sauna can burn up to 600 calories.

  • Boosting the immune system: Great for flu season, the infrared sauna triggers a temporary fever in the body that boosts the immune system function to prevent colds, flu, and other viruses.

  • Relaxation: Having time alone in the infrared sauna is relaxing. Many people enjoy meditating in the sauna, while others will read a book or listen to music. Our infrared sauna has functionality so that you can plug in your phone or iPod and choose what music you listen to. Music can also be turned off completely or you can choose to listen to our in-house playlist.

  • Health conditions: Infrared sauna can be beneficial to those with health conditions including fibromyalgiaCOPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart diseasechronic heart failure, and more. Please reference the articles regarding these specific conditions and it is always recommended to work with your doctor’s guidelines.

Waon Therapy

Waon therapy is a modality proven to benefit those who suffer from fibromyalgiaCOPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), heart diseasechronic heart failure, and several other conditions. Waon therapy is a Japanese technique that consists of sitting in a sauna heated to 140 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes pass, the patient is wrapped in thermal blankets. The patient will then lie down and retain heat for 30 minutes.

If you are interested in Waon therapy, you must talk to a practitioner first. Call us for more information.

**Please note that the maximum temperature we allow in our infrared sauna is 130 degrees, unless you have a prescription from a doctor. The exception to this rule is if you are doing Waon therapy under the guidance of an East West Wellness practitioner who has approved a higher temperature. Please feel free to contact us with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Sauna Packages Are Available for Purchase

What to Expect:

  • If you feel sick or under the weather, please call or go online to reschedule. Please be respectful of other people’s health and wellness concerns.

  • Sauna sessions include 15 mins for getting in and out of the room. Actual infrared sauna times are 30 mins and 45 mins, respectively. There is no pre-heating of the sauna. For the best detoxifying results, you need to heat up with the sauna. Session times are strict and going over the scheduled allotment will lead to an additional fee ($1/min).

  • Bring 3 medium or large towels with you. Two towels are used during the session in the sauna to help maintain health and safety standards. The last towel is for drying off after your session. If you forget your towels, we do have some for rent for a fee of $5.

  • Bring a glass or metal water bottle. No plastic water bottles, as they will leach chemicals into the water as the bottle heats in the sauna. Water or coconut water is recommended.

  • Everyone must partake in a mineral drink (provided by EWW) prior to their session. The drink is allergen-free and is used to help avoid any health concerns, such as fainting or muscle cramping. If you have any concerns about the mineral drink, please contact our front desk.

  • Please do not use fragranced body products before using the sauna. This also includes heavily fragranced detergent used for clothing or towels. We have many patients that are allergic to synthetic and natural fragrances and exposing them to these hinders their ability to use the sauna. Once again, please be respectful of other people’s health and wellness concerns.

  • We are not responsible for any damage to electronic devices that are brought into the sauna. Books and magazines are best. We do have a stereo you can hook up a phone or MP3 player that is located outside the sauna (this is great for guided mediation or podcasts).
